The Bigger Your Equipment, The More You Need Low Loaders

Low loaders are one of the most important transportation vehicles in all of Australia because they enable the movement of some of the biggest and heaviest machinery, equipment and tools used in any industry. There are many benefits to a low loader that may not be immediately obvious to people who are not familiar with the vehicles. If you are considering what semi-trailer you need for your next project you have likely heard of low loaders but are not sure what all the fuss is about. Here are a few reasons why you cannot go past a low loader when you need to move massive loads.

Easier To Load

The simple fact of the matter is that the less you have to move big loads, the easier the transportation of them becomes. Low loaders operate only a foot or two off the ground and in most cases, low loaders actually have a ramp that can be attached straight to the ground. This makes it much easier for heavy machinery and specialized vehicles like excavators to be loaded up with little fuss. Other transport options often require a special lift that can take a long time to line up properly and these can be very jerky and unstable at the best of times.

The Bigger The Better

Low loaders don't have any walls or compartments to store your items in. Instead, heavy machinery is simply secured onto the open surface of the low loader in whichever fashion is safest. This means that you can fit virtually any shaped object onto the back of a low loader in ways that would be impossible for trucks and containers. If you are dealing with awkwardly big objects there really is no other way to easily transport them other than with low loaders and many sectors utilize them because of this, including mining, construction, forestry and manufacturing.

Lower Is Safer

Something with a low centre of gravity is much more difficult to knock off balance than a comparable item with a centre of gravity much further off the ground. That is another key reason why low loaders cater to the heaviest and biggest pieces of machinery available by sticking as close to the surface of the road as possible. Heavy winds, tight corners and high-speed travel can all cause problems for a big load that is high off the ground. With low loaders, this is much less of an issue and that is a key factor in why they are much safer, comparably, to other big semi-trailers.
